InTurkey, both accumulated rainfall and average temperature were above averagefor the reporting period (although less so for temperature), resulting inslightly above average BIOMSS in spite of lower than average RADPAR. During themonitoring period, the winter wheat harvest was completed, and summer crops(maize, rice, and potato) sown from April are still growing. The agroclimaticindices indicate favorable climate conditions for the crops in the currentseason, which is confirmed by the biomass increase of 10% over the five-yearaverage and the average VCIx of 0.76. The VCIx map presents a spatial pattern consistentwith that of the cluster map of NDVI compared to the five-year average. Cropcondition below average for May to July is found in the area from Eskisehir toSivas and extending south and south-east as far as the Syrian border (Gaziantepand Sanliurfa), covering approximately 25% of the national territory. Otherregions located in central-eastern Anatolia, Thrace, and north of the Bosporus underwentfavorable conditions mostly from March to April, or returned to normal from Mayto July. Overall, the outcome of the winter crops is poor and the outlook forthis monitoring season is mixed.
