The harvest of the main rice crop was completedin January, while the second season rice has reached maturity and was ready tobe harvested in April. For the period under consideration, the crop conditionshows below average conditions compared to the last five years and the previousyear due to poor rainfall. NDVI increased from February to mid-April. Theagroclimatic and crop indicators show increased PAR accumulation (+6%) andslightly decreased temperature average (-0.5°C) in comparison with the lastfive years. Rainfall dropped by 30% compared to that from the last five years,indicating a drought situation. As a result, the biomass accumulation potentialdecreased by about 23% compared to the five-year average. The NDVI profilesconfirm that crop condition was mostly below average, particularly in centralThailand, but not in March, which is the growing period of second rice crop.Ubon Ratchathani, Sisaket, Loei, and Chiang Rai provinces generally enjoyedabove average conditions. The maximum VCI index increased to 0.77. VCIindicates that the best crop is in Khon Kaen province.
