Kyrgyzstan cultivates only a small area of winter wheat. In the southern region, spring crops were sown in April. Among the CropWatch agro-climatic indicators, RAIN was above average (+17%), while TEMP (-0.4℃) and RADPAR (-5%) were below average. The combination of these factors resulted in a decreasing BIOMSS (-5%) compared to the recent fifteen-year average. As shown by the NDVI development graph, the winter vegetation conditions were generally below average before late March, and experienced great negative anomalies from the beginning of the monitoring period and middle Feburary, which might be due to the continuous snow cover. The spatial NDVI clustering profile shows 56.3% (marked in light green and red) of the cultivated regions had average or above average crop conditions. The crop conditions in the remaining cultivated regions all experienced some fluctuations. The spatial pattern of maximum Vegetation Condition Index (VCIx) was in accord with the spatial distribution of the NDVI profiles. The cropped arable land fraction (CALF) decreased by 2%. The national average VCIx was 0.77, while national average Crop Production Index (CPI) was 1.11, indicating that the crop production prospect is average to slightly above average.
