During the reporting period from April to July, it covers the key growth stages and maturity period of wheat in the Loess Plateau region, as well as the early growth stages of maize, summer maize sowing was completed in late June.
The CropWatch Agroclimatic Indicators (CWAIs) show that precipitation was near average (RAIN +2%) and temperature was higher (TEMP +1.7℃). However, radiation was below average (RADPAR -3%), resulting in a 1% reduction in potential biomass. The rainfall profile, precipitation from April to June was generally below average, resulting in a consistently below average NDVI for the area since late May. The precipitation returned to normal amounts in July, which led to a slight recovery in crop conditions.
The NDVI clusters and profiles indicate that 42.5% of cropland in the region experienced significantly below the average (5YA) growth, mainly concentrated in northern Shaanxi Province, central Shanxi Province and eastern Gansu Province.
The fraction of cropped arable land (CALF) was 96%, and VCIx was 0.84. The CPIx in the region stood at 0.98, which is close to slightly below average.
