According to CropWatch monitoring, the surface area of multiple reservoirs in East Africa, Western Asia, and South America showed signs of recovery from low levels in November 2025. Tanzania's Kikuletwa in Africa, though still at a low water level, has seen an expansion in surface area compared to the same period in 2024. In Central Asia, Kyrgyzstan's Toktogul'skoye reservoir has a larger surface area than the previous year, while Turkmenistan's Kayrakkumskoye reservoir is smaller than the same period last year. In South America, Brazil's Porto Primavera reservoir, after experiencing low water levels in 2022, is now steadily recovering. Regions where reservoirs remain at low water levels need to implement drought prevention plans and scientifically manage water resource regulations to minimize potential adverse impacts of water shortages on agricultural production.
