In southern China, the overall crop condition is slightly below average,compared to the last 5YA, displayed by the NDVI-based crop conditiondevelopment graph. It is harvest season for late rice and planting season forwinter wheat during the monitored period. NDVI shows below average in October and thefirst half of November, increasedto 5YA to the end of December, then increased to nearly 5 year maximum. Theoverall decreased RADPAR (Fujian: -20%; Guangdong: -14%; Guangxi:-11%) andincreased temperature (Fujian: 1.7℃; Guangdong: 1.0℃;Guangxi: 1.2℃;Yunan: 0.8℃)leads to the situation. As a result, the general maximum VCI attains to only 0.6with the cropped arable land fraction keeping the same level as the last 5YA.

The crop condition in the middle of Guangdong Province should be paid more attentionto due to its obvious below average condition in almost the whole time periodwith maximum VCI below 0.5, reflected also by the NDVI spatial patterns and profiles.
