Favourable crop condition recorded in mid-to-late July

 

During the monitoring period from July 10th -25th, 2020, the spring Maize was characterized by the Tasseling stage in the Northeast China while summer Maize at North China Plain was at jointing stage. During this period, the soybean was characterized by the stage of flowering in the Northeast China while in the provinces of Anhui, Jiangsu, and Henan, the soybean was at third leaf formation stage. Similar to maize and Soybean, the single rice also was in growing stage in most of the central and south regions.

According to the NDVI departure map, the crop conditions during the monitoring period were favorable. The crop condition in north of the Yangtze River is generally better than average, thanks to abundant precipitation. Affected by continuous precipitation and flooding disasters along the Yangtze River, Sichuan and Yunnan, the crop condition was significantlybelow average. Compared with the 5YA, favourable crop condition recorded in Northwest and Northeast China. Crop condition in other areas is close to or better than the 5YA.
