In early-to-mid-August 2022, spring maize is at the spitting and milking stage in Xinjiang, North and Northeast China, summer maize is at the spitting stage in North China, soybeans are at the bulging stage in Northeast China, while soybeans are at the flowering and podding stage in Anhui, Jiangsu, Henan and Hebei. In most areas of southern and central China, late rice is in the tillering stage and mid-season rice is in the heading stage.
In early August, there were obvious differences of the crop condition in the south and the north. The temperature in most of the south is higher than 15YA, and the precipitation is lower than the average. The continuous high temperature weather is not conducive to the growth and development of crops in the south, resulting in the phenomenon of "high temperature forcing ripening" of mid-season rice in Sichuan and Chongqing in the Yangtze River basin, which also has a certain negative impact on the late rice at the tillering stage. The temperature in most of the north is close to 15YA, including the northeast, most of Shandong, Shaanxi and Shanxi areas with normal temperature and more precipitation, the overall crop condition is above average, the negative impact of local flooding is more limited. In southern Gansu, there were several precipitation processes, with high precipitation and severe flooding on some farmland, combined with the impact of rainy weather, crop condition was below average. The rest of the region crop condition is comparable to the average level of the past five years.
In general, the national crop growth is generally normal.
