During the monitoring period from Nov 13th -26th, 2022, winter wheat in most parts of North China was in the three-leaf to tillering stage. Winter wheat in Jianghuai, Jianghan and most parts of southwestern China was in the stage of seedling emergence to three-leaf, and partially entered the tillering stage.

Most of the weather in the northern winter wheat area is sunny, and sufficient precipitation make the soil moisture suitable for the development of winter wheat, resulting in normal wheat condition. In particular, the crop condition in eastern Henan is significantly better than the same period in previous years. In Jianghuai, Jianghan and most of the southwest wheat region the moisture is suitable, and the temperature is normal which conducive to the sowing and seedling emergence of wheat. The southern regions of Hubei, Anhui and Chongqing have normal temperatures but low precipitation, and the deviating soil moisture conditions hinder the steady growth of wheat.

In general, suitable temperatures and sufficient precipitation were suitable for wheat growth in the northern wheat areas. Wheat growth was generally better than average and significantly better than last year.
