The CropWatch Monitoring SystemAppendix B. Methodology, Data and Online Resources

Authors: Miao | Edit: Miao

The CropWatch Cloud Platform for Global Agricultural Monitoring offers users autonomous monitoring options through a one-stop service framework of "Data-Function-Computation-Information." Leveraging microservices architecture and standardized interface encapsulation technology, the platform decomposes agricultural monitoring models into atomic components and has built over 200 APIs (Figure B.1). This significantly reduces interdependence among system modules and greatly enhances maintainability and scalability.

The system integrates comprehensive global crop condition monitoring, multiple stress identification techniques, various crop area monitoring technologies and models, and diverse remote sensing-based crop yield monitoring methods. It also provides global agricultural remote sensing data mapping services and online programming capabilities, lowering the threshold for users to establish their own agricultural monitoring systems.

Using the APIs of the CropWatch platform, users can easily build autonomous agricultural monitoring systems by selecting data, indicators, models, and time periods based on the climate and crop characteristics of the target region. This meets diverse needs (Figure B.2) and revolutionizes the construction model of agricultural monitoring systems. It enables users to independently produce, collaboratively analyze, and disseminate regional agricultural monitoring products, breaking away from the black-box model of existing systems while enhancing transparency and traceability of agricultural information.

The system customization process requires no significant investment in local computing infrastructure yet enables highly efficient agricultural monitoring. It also supports edge computing expansion and localized processing of agricultural data. By isolating storage per user, the platform ensures privacy and data security, complying with national regulations and privacy protection standards while fully safeguarding user data sovereignty.
